• Golf app available soon, two others ready for iPhones now
BROOKINGS – So you’re out on the back nine at EdgeBrook with your buds. You pull out your trusty smartphone and fire up the golf app. The GPS tells you you’re about 12 yards from the pin, and the app scorekeeper reminds you you’re having the round of your life.
You shoot … birdie!
You’re in a mood to celebrate now, so you use the golf app to call ahead for a round of beers and some munchies back at the clubhouse.
Farfetched? Nah, it’s right around the corner, says Pete Colson, director of the city’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry.
Colson and City Clerk Shari Thornes were the local experts who updated the Brookings City Council Tuesday on smartphone apps.
