State shares federal money with city

• City collects $640K for local road projects

BROOKINGS – “Never look a gift horse in the mouth” is an old horse-trader’s expression, and it means to accept what you’re given gratefully and gracefully.

The State of South Dakota was the giver recently, and the “gift horse” was $640,000 in road funds the City of Brookings could use however it chooses.

The city council snapped up the offer.
