• City council purchases land for south fire station
BROOKINGS – Proof that the City of Brookings continues to expand southward was evidenced last week in the city council’s choice for the location of its newest fire station.
The council gave its unanimous approval to the purchase of a tract of land on South Main Avenue, just north of what will become the future 26th Street.
The council sealed the deal on the land with Dean Christie, acting for the Christie Family Trust.
