County ends its burn ban

• With snow, fire danger is low



BROOKINGS – Brookings County is no longer under a burn ban, the Brookings County Commission declared Tuesday.

That means the county is no longer in a fire danger emergency and residents are free to burn openly on their property.

Until the recent snowfall, the county continued to be in danger from dry conditions and winds that could spread fires quickly. With snow on the ground, the threat of spreading fire has dropped.
