Swiftel expansion gets new partner

• Market studies for joint venture under way, property being appraised



BROOKINGS – A marketing research firm is already at work on the proposed conference and exhibition center expansion at the city’s Swiftel Center, City Manager Jeff Weldon told the city council Tuesday.

Among several items discussed during the council’s November study session was the fact that the project has a new partner. The Lloyd Companies of Sioux Falls has signed on with the Hegg Companies and Prairieland Partners to assist in developing the conference center and attached hotel.

“We’re moving ahead on a half-dozen fronts,” Weldon told the council. “We’ve got a lot of moving parts.”
