Brookings, Flandreau BGC get big grants

BROOKINGS – Two large grants announced Monday by the State of South Dakota will be key to making projects proposed by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Brookings and Moody County a reality.

Gov. Dennis Daugaard has awarded Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to five South Dakota communities and Minnehaha County. Two of the towns, Brookings and Flandreau, will receive $412,000 each for their Boys & Girls Club projects.

“It really makes the project possible,” said Vanessa Merhib, executive director of the Brookings, Moody County and Yankton Boys & Girls Clubs.
